NEW YORK STATE -- The New York State Public Employees Federation has elected a new union president.

Susan Kent, who ran on the NY Union Proud ticket, defeated current PEF president Ken Brynien.

Kent received 8,739 votes over Brynien's 7,562 votes.

During her campaign, Kent pledged to take a more aggressive stance with the Cuomo administration after state legislators passed the controversial Tier VI pension that requires more contributions from state employees.

Byrnien released a statement about the election, saying, “I offer my congratulations to the New York Union Proud slate and wish them well as they take over the reins of the PEF leadership.”
