ELBRIDGE, N.Y. -- The Red Cross is helping a family of four who lost their home to fire Saturday.
A man was sleeping at the home on Fikes Road when the smoke detectors started to go off. He walked outside to find the porch engulfed in flames. By the time firefighters arrived the entire house was on fire.
It took personnel from 20 different fire departments and multiple tanker trucks about an hour to get the fire under control and extinguished.
The house was deemed a total loss, but no one was hurt. The American Red Cross is working with the family to relocate them.
