BROOME COUNTY, N.Y. -- The environment is front and center at Broome Community College this week.
The BCC Ecology Club hosted its annual Earth Fest Thursday. The festival is part of week-long celebration leading up to Earth Day.
Several student groups and community organizations set up educational booths on the campus. Students also handed out trees for people to plant.
Organizers say they hope that those who attended learned a valuable lesson about protecting the environment.
"I hope they got out it, that while we are all individuals, the more we work together the more we can send these powerful messages and promoting protection of the environment is a really important one," BCC Biology Professor Tracy Curtis said.
Earth Day is Sunday, April 22nd.
