MANLIUS, N.Y. -- A memorial service will be held tonight to honor two Manlius firefighters who died while fighting a fire ten years ago. Lieutenant John Ginochetti and Paramedic Timothy Lynch died in March of 2002 when they fell through a burning floor of a house on Sweet Road in Pompey.

The Fire Chief of Manlius said at first, the fire didn't seem that severe, but it then grew quickly and crews didn't know how far it had spread. The chief said Ginochetti and Lynch were great firefighters and have been greatly missed.

"The one saying in the fire services is 'never forget' and we'll never forget these guys. I won't say we wouldn't like to forget that day or forget the incident, but we're never gonna forget the two individuals that gave their life that day to try to help others," said Paul Whorrall, Fire Chief of Manlius.

Tonight's ceremony will include a brief service followed by a laying of wreaths. It begins at 7 p.m. at the Manlius Fire Department.
