ITHACA, N.Y. - Rob Pannell may be the best men's lacrosse player in the country, and he also may never suit up for the Cornell Big Red again.
The senior attackman was on crutches and wearing a protective boot on his left foot Tuesday as the Big Red played host to Canisius in game three of the season.
A report by Inside Lacrosse magazine says Pannell had surgery Monday to repair a broken bone in the foot he suffered in Saturday's win over Army, but the school would not confirm that information. Cornell coach Ben DeLuca says Pannell is out indefinitely but also admits he may miss the rest of the season.
The Big Red (3-0) face top-ranked Virginia in the 2012 Faceoff Classic this Saturday.
