WATERTOWN, N.Y. -- Some major changes for healthcare will be arriving later this year and into next year. That will be when the bulk of the Affordable Care Act is implemented nationally.

Representatives for Community Health Advocates, a service of AIDS Community Resources, were in Watertown on Thursday to inform people of some of the changes.

For the estimated two million uninsured New Yorkers, hundreds of options will become available through a state-run Health Insurance Exchange.

“Affordable Care Act, is a huge benefit to individuals, particularly the middle class because the middle class is one of the groups that is hit hardest when it comes to health insurance, or lack of, health insurance,” said Steve Wood, Community Health coordinator.

Enrollment through the state exchange will begin October 1st.
