UTICA, N.Y. -- A four-year-old girl is in critical condition following a fire in Utica.

Fire crews were called to a two story apartment building on Armory Drive just before 5-30 Friday night.

Firefighters used a ladder to rescue the young girl from the second floor. She's being treated at Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse for severe smoke inhalation.

Crews did multiple searches of the building to make sure everyone was out. No one else was hurt, but a family of ten has been displaced.

Officials say the fire started on the first floor, but the cause is still under investigation.
