$3.1 million grant for emergency tech
STEUBEN COUNTY, N.Y. -- Steuben County has received $3.1 million from the New York Statewide Interoperable Communications Grant Program.
Most of the grant money will be used to help connect the emergency communications towers in the county to the Southern Tier Network fiber infrastructure. That will create a radio link with Tioga County, Pennsylvania.
The remaining money will go towards purchasing advanced radio networking equipment for the 911 center.
The county will begin work on the project in the coming weeks with the hopes of having it completed within a year.
