Local politicians working to rename post office in honor of fallen soldier

SCHUYLER COUNTY, N.Y. -- Local politicians are working in Schuyler County to honor the bravery of a military hero killed in action.

Senator Kirsten Gillibrand and Congressman Tom Reed have introduced a bill to rename the Tyrone Post Office after Specialist Christopher Scott. The 21-year-old was killed in an attack by insurgents in Afghanistan in September 2011. It was the Dundee native's first tour of duty overseas.

Scott is said to be one of the first soldiers in Yates County killed in combat.

Congressman Reed says that by renaming the post office, Scott's legacy will forever be preserved.
