GRANBY, N.Y. -- A tragic story in Oswego County. A good Samaritan was killed after driving into the path of a tractor trailer.

State troopers say a woman had a flat tire and pulled over to the side of State Route 3 in Granby. Pedro Lugo, 69, from Fulton, stopped to help her out. After he replaced the flat, he tried to get back onto the road.

"This is a 55 miles per hour highway, so the tractor trailer driver does notice the vehicles on the shoulder, but didn't think he would pull into his path and unfortunately, he was struck and killed in the accident," said Jack Keller of the New York State Police.

The driver of the tractor trailer was not injured.

Troopers say the investigation is continuing.
