VESTAL, N.Y. -- Nearly 50 cats have been rescued from a Vestal home.

Mary Herko-Daniels, 59, is facing one charge of abandonment and one charge of failing to provide proper sustenance.

Investigators say she moved from her home on Lincoln Drive in Vestal back in October, leaving dozens of cats behind. The Broome County Humane Society has been rescuing the cats from the building.

Cruelty investigators say many of them are malnourished and in need of medical attention.

The cats will be put up for adoption after they receive the veterinary care they need.
