CAYUGA COUNTY, N.Y. -- The Cayuga County woman accused in the shooting death of her boyfriend has pleaded not guilty in court. Brenda Newkirk is charged with second-degree murder following the shooting in the Town of Conquest last October.

Sheriff's deputies say the victim, Henry Davis Junior, 42, called 911 to report he was the victim of domestic abuse by his girlfriend. The call was then abruptly cut off.

Officials say ten minutes later, Newkirk called 911 and told them she shot Davis.

Newkirk will be back in court in March.
