SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Syracuse police are investigating a crash involving a police officer. Police say Officer Joseph Hilliker was helping a disabled car on Interstate 690 east in Syracuse around 9:30 a.m. Thursday, when his patrol car was hit from behind by an SUV.
Hilliker was inside his car at the time. Both he and the driver of the SUV were treated and released from Upstate University Hospital.
I-690 east was closed at West Street for about 45 minutes while crews cleared the highway.
The disabled car was not involved in the crash, and no tickets have been issued at this time.
