SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The victim who was shot during Wednesday night's armed robbery in Syracuse is now in serious but stable condition. Police say two men robbed Syracuse Wine and Spirits on North Salina Street around 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.

During the robbery, one of the suspects shot Thomas Dotterer, 77, in the eye. Police say Dotterer is the owner of the store, and he is also a baseball coach at Christian Brothers Academy.

Dotterer was taken to Upstate University Hospital. He's in critical condition after undergoing surgery on his eye.

Police are still looking for the suspects.

Meanwhile, one person is now in custody for another armed robbery that happened about 45 minutes earlier on Taft Avenue. Two women had their purses stolen at gunpoint by three suspects.

Police arrested Deoz Miller-Harris, 18, of Syracuse and charged him with second degree robbery.

It's not clear if these robberies are connected, and both are still under investigation.

Police ask anyone with information about either incident to contact them at (315) 442-5222.
