SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Children will be able to ride a Syracuse landmark for free for the next 20 days. An anonymous donation was made to honor the victims of the Newtown shooting.

The carousel at Destiny USA will be free for people of all ages until February 3rd. Mall owners say they were humbled by the generous donation.

"We know that people like that, all over this country there are people like that out there, so it’s nice for them to look at this great attribute that we have, this opportunity. Kids love riding the carousel so it’s a great way to put it together," said Rob Schoeneck, Destiny USA General Manager.

The free rides started Monday morning.

The carousel has been one of the mall's biggest attractions since it opened in 1990.
