A well-known grocery store chain is offering customers new technology to help make shopping easier. Wegmans recently introduced a new app for a more convenient shopping experience. Our Brad Vivacqua is outside the Wegmans store on Route 57 in Liverpool and has more on this.

LIVERPOOL, N.Y. -- Over the last few years we've seen smart phone apps make some of our every day tasks a little bit easier, and that includes grocery shopping. Wegmans introduced an app a few years ago but has now updated it to be compatible on more devices.

Store officials say the goal is to make your trip to Wegmans easier and more convenient than ever before. You can build shopping lists and find out your total bill before you even walk into the store.

The new app allows you to scan products right from home and add them to your shopping list. You can also find new recipes and add the desired ingredients to your list. Once you're at the store, walking paths will help you find what you're looking for.

Wegmans Community Relations Director Evelyn Carter said, "Even for out of town travelers, if you're in the Maryland area where we have stores, or in Massachusetts where we have stores also, you can again select those stores, and it will give you the preferred walking path. So again, we see that as really a way to make shopping easier for our customers and actually enable them to be able to do things more effectively and quickly."

Some of the other advantages of the new app include refilling prescriptions, reviewing products, and checking nutrition information.
