COOPERSTOWN, N.Y. -- The White House will be getting a small taste of New York State at the inaugural luncheon this year. Food products from across the state were chosen to be part of the president's special meal. To represent the Southern Tier, a cheese from Cooperstown's Cheese Company was selected.

Senator Charles Schumer is planning the inaugural luncheon. He says by highlighting New York agricultural products at such a prestigious event, he expects sales to sky rocket this year.

Meanwhile, the owners were just happy to be chosen.

"We're just really excited, both of us are, to have the president trying our cheese," said Sharon Tomaselli, Cooperstown Cheese Company co-owner.

"People follow what is served all around the world, different chefs and different cooks and different purchasers look and see what's happening and then they buy," said Sen. Schumer.

Other New York products featured at the lunch include Reisling wines and honey from the Rochester area, and apples from the Hudson Valley region for pie.
