CHEMUNG COUNTY, N.Y. -- With all the partying on New Year's Eve, extra patrols were out on the streets, but in Chemung County, it was a quiet night.

Sheriff's report they had a total of five cars on the roads. Two of those were extra because of the holiday. They did not have any checkpoints on the roads and reported three arrests for driving while intoxicated arrests, along with two for possession of marijuana.

"A very good night for the Sheriff's office, very good night for the Sheriff's office, especially on New Year's Eve where we can get busy with just regular complaints, but the guys did a great job," said Sgt. Robert Scott Wheeler.

Normal calls like noise complaints and traffic stops were also down.

The Sheriff didn't cite any particular reason for the quiet night.
