Fire departments from near and far are banding together as the entire nation continues to mourn the loss of the two Webster firefighters. Numerous departments from across the state will be represented at the services this weekend. Our Cara Thomas tells us what some of these firefighters are doing to honor their fallen colleagues.

ONONDAGA COUNTY, N.Y. -- It was a tragedy that took the nation by surprise.

Leslie Eastwood, from the Cicero Fire Department, said, "How do you prevent something like this from happening? Those guys were doing exactly what they were trained to do."

"They get off a fire truck and they get shot at, it's just not something we're prepared to deal with," said Tony McIntyre, Deputy Chief of Baldwinsville's Fire Department.

When the lives of two Webster firefighters were tragically taken on Christmas Eve. And in response, fire departments near and far are showing solidarity. Cicero's fire department made the trip on Saturday to attend the calling hours. Honoring two firefighters, colleagues and brothers they never even met.

"They'll be here from all over the country. They'll be from Canada. There'll be a lot of people there, there's no doubt about it. It's a tight brotherhood and everybody sticks together," said Eastwood.

Other fire departments, like Baldwinsville, are supporting Webster's firefighters by holding a boot drive. Raising money for the numerous families whose lives and homes were destroyed.

And the community is more than willing to lend a hand. Dropping some change or a few dollars into a firefighter's boot.

"When one's in trouble we're all there to pick him up, when one of us falls, we stand behind him and their fire department's our fire department. All for one and one for all," said McIntyre.

Baldwinsville firefighters will also be traveling to Webster on Sunday to attend at least one of the funerals. The donations they collect will be given to the Webster Fire Department.
