Shooting leaves one dead, police officer injured

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. -- An early morning shooting in Binghamton left one suspect dead and an officer injured.

Binghamton Police responded to an incident along Livingston Street around 2:30 a.m. Tuesday. Officers ended up on the nearby Memorial Street Bridge where shots were fired.

Chief Joseph Zikuski says one of the responding officers was shot. The victim has been treated and released from the hospital.

The suspect is dead. No names are being released at this time.

Zikuski says more information will be released on Wednesday, once investigators gather all the facts.
