ELMIRA, N.Y. -- As threats continue to be an issue in some schools, law enforcement in Chemung County is beefing up their security as a precaution. The Elmira City School District announced that on Friday, middle and high schools will have extra supervision and police officers on school grounds.

Principals say threats and rumors of possible violence have been spreading through the student body and social media. The district believes the rumors have accelerated because Friday's end of the world claims.
