SOUTHERN TIER, N.Y. -- The investigation into a string of pharmacy burglaries across the Southern Tier led police to Ohio.

The Broome County Sheriff's office says warrants were issued for Jessie Harris, 38, Chris Beck, 30, and Mike Hanson, 23, all of Columbus, Ohio. Those men and Robert Blythe, 39, also face burglary charges in Tioga County.

Police say the men stole over $42,000 worth of opiates. They allegedly burglarized several pharmacies in Broome, Tioga and Chemung counties.

Police say this isn't a common crime and it wasn't easy to crack.

"You start to see this similarities all tied together. It's not very common this happens all the time, but in this case, it cued up the investigators that this is a group that's moving, it's not local people," said Tioga County Sheriff Gary Howard.

Harris, Beck and Hanson are all awaiting extradition to New York.

Police found a pill bottle during a traffic stop in Ohio and traced it back to a pharmacy burglarized in Tioga County. They also used a cell phone and hotel records to track the criminals down.
