Suspicious device found at IHS believed to be a prank
ITHACA, N.Y. -- Police believe a suspicious device found at Ithaca High School was brought to school as a prank.
Students were evacuated around 1 p.m. Thursday after a suspicious electronic device was left on the floor in the K-Building.
Police on scene were unable to determine if the device was an actual threat, so the Endicott bomb squad was called in around 4:15 p.m. to investigate and remove the device. It did turn out to pose no threat.
Emergency crews were able to leave the school by 5:20 p.m. Police are now trying to figure out who brought the device in. They say the wasted resources and the entire investigation cost taxpayers thousands of dollars.
