SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- They call it a wakeup call for the community. The 29th annual Lights On Caravan lit up the streets of Syracuse on Saturday.

The event included law enforcement and emergency service agencies, along with local businesses. It's meant to remind drivers to be safe out on the roads in a time of much celebrating.

"We know there's going to be parties. It's the holiday season. We know there's going to be alcohol involved. We're asking them to just be adult about it, and responsible, and keep the community safe by coming up with a designated driver and don't drive under the influence," said Onondaga County Undersheriff Warren Darby.

Darby says authorities will be out in force through the start of the New Year looking for drunk drivers.
