Man accused of stealing from flood-damaged homes
BROOME COUNTY, N.Y. -- A man is accused of stealing copper pipes from flood-damaged homes in Broome County. Mikhael Bugayov, 26, was arrested and charged with felony third degree burglary.
Investigators say Bugayov admitted to breaking into homes and stealing copper pipes from at least 10 homes in the Twin Orchards area of Vestal last year. This was around the time Irene and Lee hit the area, leaving homes severely damaged.
Police say Bugayov will face more charges soon. They also don't believe he acted alone. Anyone was information is asked to call Vestal Police at (607) 754-2477.
