'Extreme emotional disturbance' motion filed in Kogut homicide case

MONROE COUNTY, N.Y. -- YNN has learned the attorney for the man accused of killing his girlfriend in her College at Brockport dorm room has filed a motion for extreme emotional disturbance.

Clayton Whittemore is accused of beating Alexandra Kogut to death while visiting her at the college back in September. He was later arrested at a Thruway rest stop in the Syracuse area.

Prosecutors say Whittemore admitted to killing Kogut after he said the two got in a fight in her dorm room.

Both Whittemore and Kogut are from New Hartford near Utica.
