BINGHAMTON, N.Y. -- Thousands of people will be in school Thursday enjoying a Thanksgiving meal at Binghamton High School's 18th annual community dinner.

Students were busy getting everything ready Wednesday. They'll be serving more than 5,000 pounds of turkey, along with hundreds of pounds of corn, stuffing and sweet potatoes.

In addition to the food preparations, students were also busy setting up tables and decorating the high school's two main cafeterias.

Organizers say it's a lot of work, but they believe the dinner will run smoothly.

Senior Esteban Doyle said, "It's not that much of a challenge actually. More or less getting everyone here, getting everyone a job. Most of the students who come are so willing to help that the dinner really runs itself once you get everyone here."

The dinner runs from 11:30 a.m. until 2 p.m. There will be no take-out meals this year, but the school has expanded its dining area. School officials are also organizing a shuttle to the high school.
