OSWEGO COUNTY, N.Y. -- A Oswego County man is convicted for burglary and assault following an incident last year.

Sheriff's deputies say Michael Reitz, 35, of Sandy Creek broke into his ex-girlfriend's home in New Haven on Christmas last year. They say he broke into the house and assaulted the woman by throwing her on the floor and cutting her face with a knife multiple times. Reitz did this in front of the woman's three children.

He was found guilty of two counts of burglary, two counts of assault and three counts of endangering the welfare of a child. He will be sentenced in January.

The DA's office says the motive of the crime was because the woman was apparently seeing other men.
