BROOME COUNTY, N.Y. -- The 2013 Broome County budget has been signed into law.
After one final public hearing Wednesday night, County Executive Debbie Preston put pen to paper and signed off on the plan as it stands.
The major concern addressed by residents was the fare structure for BC transit services. The 33percent rate increase did go through, although lawmakers reinstated certain unlimited passes that were originally cut from the budget.
The other highlights of the $365 million spending plan includes no tax hikes and Preston says Broome County residents can expect to see recurring savings throughout the years due to cost-saving measures that were implemented this year.
