CICERO, N.Y. -- People suffering from traumatic brain injuries are learning to become more independent one step at a time. The sixth annual Traumatic Brain Injury Provider Fair was held Thursday at Driver's Village in Cicero to help those who are suffering.

The fair featured 40 different vendors ranging from service providers to advocacy groups, live animals, music and panels of survivors. Organizers say they put this fair on each year to not only help the victims of a brain injury, but to educate the community about the disability.

"What our program does is offer services to help people stay in their homes, make them as independent as possible and as productive as possible so that they don't have to be institutionalized and they can live a normal life," said Shannon Beebe, Co-Chair of the TBI Provider Fair Committee.

Organizers say it's always a successful event because survivors get to network with other survivors to know they aren't alone.
