POMPEY, N.Y. -- After playing the same five numbers for the past 10 years, a Fabius man finally won big. Edwin Bobbette Jr., 53, won second place during a Mega Millions drawing. But instead of winning the typical $250,000 prize, his Megaplier option boosted the prize to $1 million.
Bobbette bought his winning ticket at the Pompey Mall on State Route 20 in Pompey on August 21st.
After taxes, Bobbette will take home a lump sum of $661,800, and he says his life won't change much after getting the money.
"Probably going to pay off my house, buy a car and put the rest in the bank probably. Everybody said I was nuts because I wasted my money... but here I am," said Bobbette.
He says he picked the random five numbers 10 years ago and has been playing them every week on various lottery drawings like Mega Millions and Take 5. The most he has won on the lottery previously was about $700.
