SENECA COUNTY, N.Y. -- The Empire Farm Days are underway in Seneca County.
The festival, held on the 300 acre Rodman Lott Farm in Seneca Falls, brings farmers from across New York State together to learn about the latest trends in farming equipment. Much of the equipment featured this year is high tech and designed to cut costs.
Among the equipment is the 20th anniversary edition of the robotic cow milking machine.
"The cow comes to the machine willingly on its own. It identifies the cow and gives them a predetermined amount of grain and milks the cow and records the quantity of milk given, how much grain it gave them, how long they were in there and a lot of data on milk quality and body weight and an indication of how many times it chewed so we know whether the cow is eating and how much," said Whitney Davis of Finger Lakes Dairy Services.
The Empire State Farm Days continues through Thursday.
