TOMPKINS COUNTY, N.Y. -- The Grassroots Festival of Music and Dance is underway in Trumansburg. The four day festival features more than 60 performing groups and draws thousands of revelers.

And one group is helping to keep underage attendees safe through the weekend. Project Sticker Shock puts warning labels on alcoholic beverages to remind everyone that providing alcohol to someone under 21 is a crime.

Surveys show that's how area youth get access to alcohol.

"They don't get it by using fake IDs, they get it by people over the age of 21 providing alcohol for them. So we're trying to let anyone over the age of 21 know that it is illegal to provide alcohol to anyone under the age of 21," said Janice Johnson of Tompkins County Youth Services.

About a dozen teens are helping distribute the stickers.

Organizers say they've had a great response from local businesses.
