If you love horses, then you'll want to head out to the State Fairgrounds. The Syracuse International Horse show makes its way back to the Fairgrounds starting today. The event is in its 39th year. Our Iris St. Meran has the details.

ONONDAGA COUNTY, N.Y. -- This is the Fairground’s largest horse show. It's being hosted by the American Saddlebred Horse Association. With an estimated 650 horses, it's the association’s largest one here to date. The horses and their trainers come from all over the United States and Canada.

On Tuesday, many of them spent their day in the Coliseum, getting in some last minute practice time. Organizers are expecting a good turnout of people who enjoy horses and looking for some good family entertainment.

In addition to watching the horses and their trainers compete, visitors can participate in events to raise money for some local organizations and hospitals. There will be a silent auction for Hospice of Central New York as well as a "Chuck a Duck" event to benefit Upstate Golisano's Children's Hospital.

"We tend to focus on people in need. A lot of times the people in need happen to be our own friends and family members in our horse show world. So that's how we end up getting involved in these types of things. So it ends up being something near and dear to your heart," said Michele Dinardi Fields, Hospitality Committee Chairperson.

The horse show runs today through Saturday. Everything begins at 10 a.m. and lasts through the evening.
