ONONDAGA COUNTY, N.Y. -- A North Syracuse man will spend four to 12 years in state prison after he admitted to his role in a crash that left one man dead.

Wednesday morning, Harry McLeod, 59, was given an agreed upon sentence of four to 12 years in state prison after pleading guilty to the October crash. Authorities said McLeod was driving drunk when he hit Edward Warner, 79, in the Town of Salina. Warner died from his injuries.

"I wish this never happened, but unfortunately it did and there's nothing that will bring my father back. And hopefully anybody who thinks about drinking and driving...don't do it. Call a limo, call a friend, call a taxi. Go ahead and get drunk all you want, just do not get behind the wheel of a car," said Mark Warner, son of Edward Warner.

McLeod apologized to the Warner family in court before he was sentenced. He said he was sorry for making a bad decision to drink and drive.
