Ithaca native part of Stanley Cup winning team

UNITED STATES -- Hockey fans in the City of Ithaca are hoping the Stanley Cup might find its way to their hometown.

Monday night, the Los Angeles Kings captured their first cup in team history, beating the New Jersey Devils six to one game six of the finals.

The Kings’ captain, Dustin Brown, scored the first goal of the game and added two more assists.

The 27-year-old Brown grew up and learned the game in Ithaca before moving on to the OHL and eventually the NHL.

There's no official word yet whether he plans to bring Lord Stanley's Cup to his hometown.

The NHL has a tradition of allowing each player from the championship team to spend a day with the cup however they wish.
