Corrections officer arrested for misconduct
CORTLAND COUNTY, N.Y. -- A corrections officer at the Cortland County Jail has been charged with official misconduct for his alleged actions toward an inmate.
Gordon Barnhart, 42, was arrested this week following a lengthy investigation.
Back in April, Barnhart was accused of using unwarranted physical force to lock an inmate in his cell. Then after the inmate filed a complaint, Barnhart allegedly confronted him and threatened further sanctions if the inmate didn’t withdraw the written complaint.
Barnhart is now facing two misdemeanor counts of official misconduct. He's due back in court next week.
