ONONDAGA COUNTY, N.Y. -- A homecoming without much fanfare for a Mohawk Valley man but a happy day for both him and his family.

Staff Sergeant Scott Koor of the 174th Fighter Wing returned home Saturday from Afghanistan. Koor spent the last six months working with the MQ9 Reaper Drones in Kandahar.

He said he volunteered to go serve as crew chief, but is thrilled to be home with his wife, daughter, and grandchildren.

SSgt Koor said, “This was my fourth deployment. First time in Afghanistan, I did three in Iraq. This was probably by far the hardest one for me."

Abigail Demarest, Koor's Step-Daughter said, “Just for him to be home and to be safe, you know, it's an amazing feeling."

Koor said he plans to return to work soon at the Mohawk Correctional Facility.
