CICERO, NY - The Liverpool boys lacrosse team avenged a triple overtime loss in last year's sectional championship with a 6-5 overtime win over West Genesee Wednesday night, ending the Wildcats' 10-year reign as sectional champions.
The Wildcats erased a two-goal deficit in the final three minutes of regulation to force overtime and give themselves a chance to extend their title streak to 11 straight seasons.
But Liverpool senior Kyle DeAngelis scored an unassisted goal with just over six seconds left in the extra session to give the Warriors their first sectional title since 1989.
