JEFFERSON COUNTY, N.Y. -- The State of Emergency has been lifted in the Jefferson County Village of Deferiet.

The emergency went into effect Thursday after village officials said they faced a water shortage.

A pump broke on the village's main source of water and there were concerns the back up well wouldn't be able to handle the demand from the village's 300 people.

For the last five days, people have been asked to cut down and forego any unnecessary use of water.

Monday afternoon, Mayor Robert Foster said that is no longer the case and the precautionary state of emergency is no longer needed.
