ARGYLE, N.Y. -- An Argyle teen has died after a sudden illness.

Krista Depew, 19, passed away on Friday.

Depew had just finished her first year of college at Cornell University, where she was studying business at the Dyson School of Applied Economics and Management. Cornell offered its condolences to Depew's family Monday on their website.

The website is also offering more information on meningococcal meningitis and says after a thorough investigation, there is no increased risk for Cornell students and area residents.

Depew was a 2011 graduate of Argyle Central School. She was the class valedictorian and she played on the softball team.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the M. B. Kilmer Funeral Home in Argyle.
