State Police are now looking for anyone who was in the vicinity where a state trooper died in a crash Friday night. The tracking system inside Trooper Amanda Anna’s vehicle shows she may have been in pursuit of a vehicle around 11:30 p.m. YNN’s Iris St. Meran has more on the impact the crash has had on the state police as they investigate.

HASTINGS, N.Y. -- State Police have released new information as they continue to investigate a crash in Hastings that killed one of their troopers Friday night.

After reviewing the tracking system inside the vehicle, Police said Trooper Amanda Anna turned around on County Route 37 and may have been in pursuit of another vehicle when she lost control.

Trooper Amanda Anna was a six year veteran of the New York State Police. She was assigned to the Hastings Barracks in Oswego County. Friday night while traveling along Route 37, one of the roads there, she lost control of her Chevy Tahoe, a marked state police vehicle.

New York State Police Public Information Officer Trooper Jack Keller said, "The vehicle struck a guardrail. The vehicle became airborne and went over a small water inlet and landed on a grassy area just past the inlet. And then it rolled. And then someone contacted 911."

She was taken to Upstate University Hospital, where she died from her injuries early Saturday morning. Anna leaves behind her mother, step-father, four-year-old son and fiancé.

Her comrades with the State Police were some of the first on the scene. Troopers and other law enforcement personnel respond to scenes like this regularly. But Trooper Keller says when it's a colleague or a friend it's different.

"When you see one of your own Troop cars, laying crashed in the area and also you're now going to run to the scene and try to render aid to one of your own colleagues,” Keller said, “It becomes very difficult." A difficulty that he acknowledges is unfortunately sometimes apart of the job.

Governor Cuomo issued a statement to express his sympathy to Anna's family.
He said in part, "She was just 31-years-old. For the six years that Trooper Anna served as a member of the State Police, she put protecting the people of the State of New York before all else."

Part of Route 37 was closed Saturday morning while the accident reconstruction team was on the scene.

The crash is still under investigation and State Police are looking for anyone who was on Route 37 in the town of Hastings last night, or anyone who may have more information about the crash.
