FRANKLIN COUNTY, N.Y. -- Firefighters spent nearly seven hours battling a fire at an apartment building in Franklin County. Officials said 23 fire departments responded to the fire on North Main Street in St. Regis Falls around 12:15 a.m. Friday.

It took 100 firefighters and two million gallons of water to get the flames under control.

The building consisted of four apartments and officials say all the residents escaped safely once crews arrived. Three of the occupants were taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation.

A firefighter was transported to Alice Hyde Medical Center with burns to the hands. The cause of the fire is under investigation, but officials say it doesn't appear suspicious.
