JEFFERSON COUNTY, N.Y. -- An East Syracuse man has been arrested for harassing an attorney who is working on a civil lawsuit against the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department. Attorney Charu Narang is representing Deputy Krystal Rice in the $50 million lawsuit.

Rice claims topless photos she allowed to be taken of herself for an investigation were improperly stored and never returned to her.

Narang reported receiving a harassing phone call back in April, warning her if she didn't drop the suit, she would get pulled over every time she drives and would have problems continuing to practice law.

Police now say Rodney Sanford, 35, was the one who placed that call. They say Sanford used to live in Watertown, but that he is not connected to the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department.

Sanford told police no one asked him to make the phone call. He's charged with second-degree aggravated harassment.
