A purchase of an iced coffee today at most Dunkin' Donuts locations will go a long way in helping kids at a local children's hospital. Today is "Iced Coffee Day” and $1 from every iced coffee sold will benefit Upstate Golisano Children's Hospital. Our Brad Vivacqua has the details.

NEW YORK – Today, your purchase of a small, medium, or large iced java will have some additional significance to it. Today is "Iced Coffee Day” and $1 from every iced coffee sold will directly benefit Upstate Golisano Children's Hospital.

The hospital, located in Syracuse, provides care to sick and injured children in Central New York and 21 surrounding counties. Last year, the hospital received more than 100,000 patient visits and treated more than 4,000 inpatients. Funds raised will help purchase supplies and other amenities to make a child's stay more comforting.

"It's such a good opportunity to really bring a sense of home to them whether it's through supporting them with video games, or whether it's new books, or DVDs, or it's just adding to what home life is really about," said Eric Stensland, Dunkin' Donuts Field Marketing Manager.

"This type of promotion with Dunkin' Donuts and a dollar iced coffee will really make a difference when it comes to helping us with the small everyday needs for children so that we can keep their hospitalization normal. But also to help the families that are traveling distance to come in for either cancer treatment, a trauma an accident,” said Toni Gary, Upstate Golisano Children's Hospital.

Dunkin’ Donuts generally holds Iced Coffee Day annually, helping a different non-profit agency. All purchases at stores in Central and Northern New York, along with the Binghamton and Elmira areas, will support the children's hospital.

If you're in the Albany or Buffalo areas today, you can also find this same campaign, which will benefit local hospitals in those areas.
