ONEIDA COUNTY, N.Y. -- State Police say a speeding motorcyclist crashed and died Monday on Barr Road in the Town of Vernon.

Van Williams, 30, of Oneida, was killed after he went off the shoulder of the road and struck two trees. Williams was ejected and landed about 15 feet from the motorcycle. He was found by a passing motorist who saw him lying on the side of the road.

Investigators say they are still looking into the crash, but believe Williams was driving at an unsafe speed.
