Woman arrested for setting fire to home on Christmas Eve
STEUBEN COUNTY, N.Y. -- Five months after a Christmas Eve fire destroyed a home in Hammondsport, State Police say they now know what caused it. The fire on Wixom Hill Road was an arson and the owner faces a number of charges.
Police arrested Jaqueline Rohalla, 70, on Monday. She was charged with arson, insurance fraud, forgery and reckless endangerment.
Police say Rohalla set the fire that destroyed her home on Christmas Eve in an effort to collect the insurance money.
