BINGHAMTON, N.Y. -- With the notes of last year's season still echoing in the hallways, Tri-Cities Opera has announced the details of its upcoming 2012-2013 season.

Organizers have dubbed the season “Our Opera to Die For.” It consists of four operas: “La Boheme,” “Il Trovatore,” “Cavalleria Rusticana” and “Pagliacci.”

Two of the operas have not been seen on The Forum stage for over 30 years and officials say even those not familiar with the operas may get a surprise when they recognize some of the tunes that have been used outside of the opera house.

"Trovatore has ‘The Anvil Chorus’ in it, which is used often in movies and on television to sell everything from home permanence to spaghetti sauce," said Reed Smith, Tri-Cities Opera General Director.

Tri-Cities Opera is a training company, so many of the artists are Master’s students from Binghamton University's music department.

The first opera is scheduled for October 26th and tickets are already on sale at www.tricitiesopera.com.
