Man charged with arson in Watertown apartment fire

WATERTOWN, N.Y. -- The man charged with setting a Watertown apartment building on fire Tuesday morning was in court Wednesday. Joshua Metzler, 25, turned himself into police late Tuesday.
He faces second degree arson charges. Police allege he set the fire knowing several people were inside.
In court, Metzler asked for a public defender and had his bail set at $50,000.
Shortly after the fire erupted, police had found and cuffed Metzler nearby, but for unknown reasons he was released. The High Street apartment was the home to four families,12 people total.
Three were injured including one woman who was severely injured after having to jump out second floor window.
Metzler is due back in court Monday.
