ROME, N.Y. -- The 75th birthday of one Rome business is drawing attention all the way from Albany.
The state legislature recently adopted a resolution commemorating Rome Federal Credit Union's seven and a half decades of service.
Founded in 1937, it's outlasted other credit unions to become the city's oldest.
Officials say unlike banks, actual credit union members make up the organization's board of directors, giving a personal touch to how they do business.
"You get to know your people intimately. They're not just another name among 5,000. For good members, you can give them a little extra treatment," said Jim Masucci, President of the Board of Directors.
The credit union is hosting two events next week to thank the community for its support. Wednesday evening, they'll acknowledge local leaders and the following day they'll have a celebration to thank customers for their decades of loyalty.
